Default M&R Eclipse II Semi-Auto Info???

    Hi everyone,

Ryan from Chicago here. this is my first post and I'd like to thank all of you who have posted extremely helpful info here that I have made good use of over the past year or so. I've used plans from these forums to build my own wash-out booth and manual vacuum table and now I'm ready to upgrade to a semi-auto press.

I have an opportunity to get an M&R Eclipse II 30x40 and I'm wondering if anyone out there knows anything about them? I've heard great things about M&R Saturns, good things about Tempos and mixed reviews of Cameos - but nothing about Eclipses. I can't find anything on M&R's site or google about them so I'm guessing they are a discontinued product.

Any info y'all can provide is much appreciated - thanks!

run it and see how it works. I don't know the exact press. but I've seen lots of people printing on old Cameos and (gasp) Filbars and if you can get a good print off one of them, you'll get a better one off an M&R -if it runs.

-all controls OK< and the press doesn't have broken bits and welds on stuff
-the print carrage cycles smoothly, the squeegee and floodbar change over ok, it comes with squeegees and floodbars
-the top looks in good condition, no big warps or scratches
    - the electrical hookup matches your building

You live in chicago, take one of the people who run presses there over to kick tires if it is local

I can't believe there are no ads or bits about them on google. did you try looking on screenweb.com or some of the other classified listings?

And price.....if it works/checks out on all above and is cheap.....you should be able to get it working, beats pulling prints by hand if you are doing long runs.

Is it 220v 3 phase? If so you want to be sure you are wired or can wire for that.
I love my Saturn, don't know about the Eclipse but it looks similar.

It's actually 110v - I'm not wired for 220v 3 phase so I don't want to mess with it. The press is in town so I'll see if I can get a local scoundrel to go check it out with me - thanks for the checklist Andy. btw - I bought your book when I started out and it was indispensable. I broke the spine and all the pages are loose now - well worn, well loved and totally worth the investment!

let's hope your press lasts longer than the book. Was that the old B&W version? 'New' 2nd edition is bigger faster and full colour cover to cover. And i think the bindery is way better.

If you spend $5-6 you should be able to get a nice press. Although these refurbished ones are much more. A new saturn is $18,000 or so.
