Default NooB Stupid / Lazy / Drunk & Pissed

I was using two 500w halogen lamps to burn my shit. All was peaceful and I was making some bling. Then, I took some of that jack and bought one of these fuckers:

T-shirt Printing Screen Exposure Unit - Entry Level Silkscreen Exposure Unit

Coated some screens with this here business:

    DXP

Exposed it for 2 minutes, shotgunned a gran belt and a sweetwater 420, then got a face full of water from the pressure washer b/c the shit won't washout.

Can someone point me in the direction of some useful UV exposure literature? I've stated my favorite cheese, gone premium, bought the book, drank the beer, and used the search function. I even read all the shit....

    Help man. Just help.

you don't need lit, ye just need to understand emulsion. the same uv energy is exposing your emlusion no matter what the source, halogen bulbs, blacklight bulbs, metal halide. they all output different ranges and intensities of light.

if your image isn't washing out, you let too much uv energy through the dark areas of your positive. if you're working with the same positives as before, you can definitely achieve the same results with a different light source. this one is stronger, so you need to expose for less time. if you want better results, get darker positives.

if you want to know how long you should expose for, order a 21-step transmission scale from Transmission Step Wedges and shoot a screen with it. Follow the instructions that come with it an you'll be in biz.

Man, they never sell you everything you need to print in the middle of the night. Though, this looks like an extremely handy thing to have... I shall have it. Thanks brohiem.

especially with fast emulsion. those small UV units are quick with regular diazo, if you are using pure photopolymer (did you mix diazo in? If not it's fast FP) steves right, try 30....except those cheapshit timers won't go down below one minute very accurately.

I started using a step wedge with solar exposures this year, and it's pretty right on. If you get some excellent positives, you can expose all the live long day and still have everything turn out great.

Ulano's website has a bunch of troubleshooting info.

Your whole post is golden, but this shit made me laugh pretty hard. Mostly because I've been there on the pressure washer blowback tip.

Definitely way over-exposing, keep at it sailor, & good luck.
