Default patches?! we don't need no stinking patches!!

hi all, so i was curious about back patches. i have some that i need to do and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on fabrics. i'm a bit in the dark, it seems like a simple job but i know the fabric unraveling can be a huge issue. i wonder if i have to hem it? i just don't really want to have to do that, plus i think a rough edge will look a bit cooler. any help or advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

I'm no sewing expert, but I'm fairly certain any material you would want to use for a back patch with unravel.

I've had good luck with bull denim and heavier twills. Are you printing plastisol?

Canvas seems to be the fabric of choice anytime i've seen them around here. Ive seen some people go all out and hem the edges of regular t-shirt fabric, that seems like too much work though.

right, yeah i used canvas for some patches a while back and just cut it with regular scissors and the fabric unraveled pretty badly, to the point where i am questioning if i should use it for a customer. as far as pinking shears go, do they make some that don't give it the ziggy-zaggy cut? i guess that's a question for the old ladies at the fabric store.

Pinking shears make the zig-zaggy cut.
