Steve Albini once told me to use it when I printed some metal faceplates for his studio.
Maybe epoxy ink ruins polyester mesh?

I'm honestly not sure. I've been avoiding toxic inks since I gave up on t-shirts/plastisols.
Andymac or squeegee3 will know

this is for printing PCB on copper plates and other metals.
It's for really high-detail, high-precision industrial uses- circuit boards, metal, etching, decals, etc.
Andy from Slowboy used to use it in his former day job printing waterslide decals for model cars...he showed me some; the detail was insane. He could tell you more.
Not for art or shirts.
It doesn't stretch, so there is no off-contact, i.e., the screen is fully in contact with the substrate as you print. Otherwise it would break.
i wonder what kind of squeegee you have to use on steel mesh. seems like it would act like a cheese grater on rubber mesh, haha.
nothing to see here, move along.
used for super high detail, precision, or industrial applications. you can heat it, there are some apps and inks requiring heat to flow.
In the ultra high thread counts, a smaller diameter wire thread gives a bigger opening using metal. this is the main problem as the mesh count increases with regular monofilament mesh, the open area decreases. but we are talking meshes above 380, you can barely hand print through that.
due to cost, I don't think people who use house paints or cardboard scoop coaters would have too much interest in this.
