Default 400w High Pressure Sodium Vapor fixtures

Today I found two 400w High Pressure Sodium Vapor fixtures, with bulbs, in the attic of my garage.

I guess the previous owners left them behind. They both have two prong plugs for 110 outlets. Plugged them in, sans bulb, and they both hum like a street light starting up so I ventured to guess that they both work. I put the fixture, with one of the bulbs in it (in a metal box (for safety) and it fired up. Tried other bulb and it works too. Repeat process for the other fixture and it works as well.

One bulb is a Sylvania Lumalox S51 LU400. The other is a GE Lucalox LU400. Both are listed by the "grow light" suppliers.

Would one or both of these be an upgrade to my current 3x500w halogen setup? My burn times with Ulano LX660 on yellow 230 mesh were 7.5 minutes but recently this has gone up to around 12 minutes. I've read much of the witty banter about point source lights/strip lights/shop lights. I'm just looking at my options here.

    What say you GP-ers?

HP Sodium does not give off UV in the right range like metal halide. UV A+B is bluish

the sodium in in the higher nanometer range, in the visible light range, orangey red.

Growers use both. have no idea if it's better than your current setup.

But try it and let us know.
