Default Notes on Creating Films for Screenprinting

    Hello All,

I just wanted to share some technical info I compiled that some of you may find helpful. The info in this handout comes from various sources, and things I have done myself. I primarily use this with an introductory screenprinting course that I teach. Enjoy and use at your own risk!

Thank for sharing but you really should have done a search of the Forums before posting this.

yeah Kevin, this is good and thanks for posting, and welcome to GP. Just a quick glance and I see your process halftone angles are standard offset - these angles will produce moire. check the forums for better angles for screenprinting. I DO LIKE your explanation on DPI, LPI, and PPI.

Now, let's see what you really got.....name your cheese.

Yes, your work is pretty sharp.
I would expect an answer about the cheese by now though.

    Default Favorite cheese...

would be a sharp Cotswold with chives, usually paired with a nice Belgian double ale.

As far as screen angles go I've seen a lot of different numbers. K=53º, M=83º, Y=98º, C=23º, is another set I have tried, other than the standard offset angles, and these worked well. I may have even got these numbers from a post you made Andy! I've done low lpi separations (36 or less on 230 mesh) using standard offset angles, and have been perfectly happy with those results too. I just wanted to share this info since that to me seems to be part of what the print community is about.

In the end, it's all about the math. Did you know that a 150 ppi stochastic image will produce world class moire on a 300 mesh? I found out the hard way. Nothing is random.

Now, if I lived in Washington state, i would be eating Tillamook spiced Monterey Jack on my breakfast cereal every day.
