    Default Screen printing paper, UK

I've been screen printing for a few months now, doing maybe 20 or 30 prints in an edition. The paper I have been using so far has come as enormous A1 sheets with deckle edges. I find them awkward to cut down and, with the best intention, there's always going to be a bit of variation here and there that doesn't help with registration.

I was wondering if any UK screen printers know where I could find paper that is supplied at a decent range of sizes, particularly something in the gig poster size range between A3 and A4?

    Thanks!

Robert Horne paper carries a paper called Soproset that comes in a range of sizes and weights ( I used the 250gsm(?) A2) that is pretty dirt cheap.

Yup, same place I order my paper from. Huge range and good service.

Thanks B-Droid and DRG. To add to this, I also found John Purcell's (John Purcell Paper) in the classifieds of Printmaking Today magazine. He says he can supply paper cut to any size.

I think I'll ask both Horne's and Purcell's for some paper samples and quotes to make a decision. Out of interest, which of the Soproset papers do you use - the premium offset?

I've used John Purcell and quite like it. A bit expensive maybe.

Thanks! And thanks for the welcome. And thanks for the comment on my work Drozd, coming from you that is very much appreciated. In fact, there are so many talented artists on here - it's really inspiring.

I tried to order some paper from Robert Horne but it's a pain in the ass. I have to apply to register? Wtf? Do they only deal with businesses or what? Also had no response regarding getting some samples.

Anywhere else anyone can suggest? I wish we had a place like French Paper Co.

Gf Smith. Expensive, yes. Quality, indeed. Otherwise John Purcell or your local artshop (mine does 300gsm for VERY cheap).
