    Default noob buying supplies

im having a helluva time searching thru the forums...

im just starting out, basically teaching myself with some guidance, and im figuring out what i should get and where.

i got a pretty sweet deal on a couple newman frames off ebay, 27.5x27.5 and 23x31, and i got some hinge clamps.

im planning on just doing the emulsion and burning at a local shop, but ill be designing and printing myself.

so i need mesh (280-300? how much should i get to start?), squeegee, inks... what else? where are good sites to look for supplies?

thanks dudes, look forward to joining the ranks...

While I'm not familiar with the roller-frame thing, I would guess you are better off getting pre-stretched frames when first starting out.

I bought mine from Silk Screening Supplies .com, Screen Printing Equipment, Silk Screen Printing Kits (Ryonet), they have deals on packs of aluminum screens in whatever meshcount you want.

you can get mesh and supplies from a bunch of places....dickblick, atlas screen, etc... in a pinch, i've gone to a local screen printing shop and just bought a yard from them. i've got a newman roller frame with 160 mesh on it (i think), and it's worked fine for all the stuff i need to do (i don't do really tiny text, though).

get some emulsion remover, unless you plan on doing the removal at the shop as well.

hmmm, the 280 is kind of expensive on silkscreeningsupplies.com. like 80 for 3 yards.

what about squeeges? is 70 a good number?
