We are looking for a way to print posters on a 'made to order' basis. We are basically a promo company helping artist sell their work but the printing is a problem since most companies have minimum orders.
any info is welcome!
Thanks.

what kind of printing are you looking for?
there are a lot of screen printers here.
when you say "helping artists sell their work", do you mean sell their designs to bands/clubs, or sell the actual posters?

any printer would be happy to print you one poster. Film charge $25 per color, screen or plate charge $25 per color. Press set up, around $100 or $200. So your single poster will run you about $300 or $400. That is why they have minimum orders, it spreads the cost of production over multiple units. For the same cost you could get 100 posters. The choice is yours. The only way to do singles is via some kind of digital process.

No shit! That's what i want too. Except I haven't found it. Which is why I have a minimum order.
Wellhouse- to answer your question, your only option for one-off as-needed prints is an inkjet printer. What that gives you is somewhat less than saleable, and won't do any good for you or your clients.
Screenprinting produces a product with much greater object appeal and perceived value, but no screenprinter can make money printing one-offs, hence the minimum order.
It's a have-your-cake-or-eat-it type situation. If there was a way, everybody would be doing it.
I like cake.
Why don't you save yourself all the trouble of not making money and just direct your artists here to this site. We'll take care of the rest for you.
