acrylic ink and water-soluble transparent extender

there is practically no ink for screen printing sold locally. i was doing a run this weekend and thought i would try paint instead this time. the paint was a huge hassle and realized i need to get better at printing in general before tackling that beast. So the only ink i can get locally is a few colors of acrylic speedball and the only extender they sell is speedball for water-soluble ink. will the water soluble extender work alright with speedball acrylics to achieve color overlays? if not are there any other art mediums that i could add to the acrylics ink to achieve this effect that might be easier to find?

Where are you located? Why not have ink shipped in? Whether you're on the west or east cost there are two speedball supplies that post on this forum. Have you contacted any of the other screen shops in your area?

East coast:

i usually order ink and have it shipped in but for the current project i have a pretty tight deadline and needed it asap. the only local screen printing shops i have found are tshirt printers and from what i have gathered by calling around they only have fabric ink. they are very nice though and burn my screens with their vacuum exposure unit for free! any idea if the acrylic ink with the water soluble extender is doable?

NEVER get water soluble. At least that's if i remember correctly, but im 95% sure.

Read the other threads, add water, find someplace that offers what you need, or go in to the art store and find some sort of waterbased product that is semi-clear. Call around to art shops that are futher out than you'd normally go and ask about Speedball Transparent Base. Or, next time before you figure out that you want to print a poster with overlaps order some from one of the previously linked sources. Call them and have it overnighted. That's the best advice that I can give. Be prepared or be ready to bootstrap it on your own.

Ask the house paint store if they have any transparent base. Someplace other than home desperate would probably be best.
