Default House Paints and transparency help

I am doing a run this weekend and want to use house paint after reading all the threads on it. It will be much more convenient since the only way to get ink in my town is to order it. I want to do some overprint effects in the print and was wondering if i could just add my speedball extender to the paint like i would with ink. would this work or would i need to use something else to make the paint transparent? thanks
