The part of the printer where the heads comes to rest most likely has some ink soaked lint and debris in there. Open it up and clean it out. Carefully blot off the cleaning pad until no more ink comes off. (I'm saying this from knowledge of other Epsons not the 3000 in particular)
thanks for the info, gonna try to do that. to open it do i have to actually remove the cover that's screwed on? never done that, but i will try it.
for now i am trying to see if running a few sheets of film printing all black helps too.
Jesus are your films flat?
When I used the first time my Epson 7880 I used some sheets of film, that were stored around a roll. The result of printing on them was your issue.
Be sure your film is flat. Generally you can have this problem using the first part of a roll but then you won't.
