    Hazy Halftones - any tips?

Hey guys - thanks for the tips after my last post. Ive moved on to my second print, its come out really well except for a few little problems. On the first colour i put down some of the halftones were hazy/blurry and there were occasionally a inconsistencies in the ink coverage. What causes this? ive attached a pic so you can see what im talking about. Thanks a million.

It looks like your dots are blurry because of bleeding. Which can be a result of many things including lack of lift, lack of suction/adhesive, too runny of ink, too much pressure, poor screen tension, too great an angle to your squeegee. Take your pick. This is assuming that the image didn't look like this on your film and screen.

...or not printing quickly enough. If ink sits in the screen you'll get blurred up, often in some spots more than others. If that's what's happening (b/c you're interrupted by re-registering, mixing more ink, dropping a deuce, etc.) a few test pulls will usually do the trick. Keeping a good pace is key.

As stated there are a lot of variables here so it's not super easy for you to figure out, but you'll get a handle on it if you pay attention to the details and how your results change. I manage to screw up something new every time, which is invaluable.

you just need to do it enough to get the feel for it.
it's weird muscles that you don't use in real life.
