Who prints with house paint?

I remember seeing threads about printing with house paint, i've got a few questions --

What do you use to prevent drying in the screen?
Have you gotten passable results using this stuff?

I am thinking about doing some prints with house paint because of the fact that they have the clearance/mess up stuff at home depot and it's super cheap. plus i have seen some pretty rad colors in the mix.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What about the permanence of the paint. House paint doesn't stand up well to fading on walls. Does it fade on paper too? I've been wondering about this too. Anyone?

I still haven't gotten up the nerve to try this yet, but I asked Leia about it.

She uses FLOETROL mixed in with the latex paint to ensure it doesn't dry into the screen.

liam i've done a bunch of stuff with latex - talk to me tomorrow and i'll show you some stuff. the best example is http://gigposters.com/posters.php?poster=15782 - i couldn't find any pink screenprinting inks that would show up on the black but the latex worked perfectly.

floetrol is mega cheap compared to the speedball retarder. <$17usd for a gallon, that's economical. house paint seems to be a decent route to take.

Don't Chloe and Yannick (Seripop) use water based house paint?

Try asearch of the threads.. I know there are at least a few topics covering this... Good luck and if anyone can please post examples!

yeah im gonna have to get some floetrol... grzeca told me it was the ONLY way that i should be printing with latex. ive used latex a bunch of times without it, but i dont suggest doing that.

seripop ONLY uses latex paint... except for the recent daughters poster, thats all speedball and union acrylics

Ue use paint with speedball retarder and have not had any problems with it.

hey we use water based latex house paint with nazdar retarder and have beenn printing with paint for 4 years now
very happy with the colors, fishish and permanace (and price!)

it's really easy once you get the hang of it, just takes trail and error and paper that doesn't expand
print mafia also use house paint
