Since I have no artistic abilities, this is the only thing approaching a process thread I'll be able to contribute:
Spent the last couple of weekends building my kegerator.
Step 1:
Build a box.
Here I have already cut the boards to length. I have them clamped down so I can screw them together. I used largish L-brackets.
Step 2: Cut a hole in the box.
Here you see the holes drilled for the shanks for the faucets. I used some bead board I had lying around to pretty it up. There is a smaller hole on the right side for the gas line to come in.
Step 3: Put your junk on the box.
I've fastened the lid into the wood collar, and caulked the whole thing down to the freezer. Added some weight on top to ensure good contact.
Once everything was a dry, it is just a matter of hooking stuff together.
Wood doesn't have a fantastic R value. So I added some sheet insulation to the inside. That's a black ale carbonating. The wire you see on the right hand side is the thermostat, that maintains the temperature in the freezer.
It has been a few days, and the black ale is done carbonating. I'm happy to say it turned out really well. 4.5% alcohol content. So, a little low, but still acceptable. Enjoying a cold one now!
