Default A double poster process thread

About a year ago, during a residence, I had to create posters for events I was putting up (or collaborating with). Due to low budget, I decided to go for regognisable serie (fast work, simple visual with bold impact and local printing) and to print those using good old black and white photocopy.
For more fun, I made a double poster for 2 events in a cinema, turning serious documentary movies into a dumb double poster. then, I ended up making a tripple poster for personnal themed exhibits.
the whole posters serie can be seen here

After that, I planned to do a silkscreened double poster for 2 shows at le grand mix.
The goal was to use 2 different techniques to make 2 different posters that would fit together to make a huge one.
I chosed to go for collage, 1 i worked more with accumation of pictures and the other one working more by layers.
after creating the images, it's time to get those printed.
Even if it's silkscreened the options are a little different than what most of the people here use.

    Burning the screens.
I used capilary emulsion film. there are pro and cons, i'd say, it's quite fast and don't need much room as you don't have to burn a big screen but it's expensive and can be a nightmare if it's not done properly.
After burning the image is revealed like it would with direct emulsion then sticked to the screen and dryed.

Screens are now ready to print.

I use high quality solvent based ink (not only because it melts my brain but also because i really like the quality and the great colors I get using it.

Fore those who are not familiar with semi auto press, you can notice the squeege and a metal "counter squeege".

Semi auto press is like "printing by foot" as the machine pulls the ink when your foot press the button.
it helps to have regular pressure and amount of ink on screen and help saving your back and arms.

The double posters are now printed and left for drying.

    It's time to clean everything

and to cut them down to make 2 24/15 inches posters or a huge 24/30 inches double poster when framed together.
