Yesterday we layed the 6/7/8th layer on the variant, and 6/7th layer on the main editon. I forgot to snap photos for most of yesterday, sorry folks! Heres the progress from throughout the day once it was all complete. We layed down the yellow in the eyes/feet/beak on the variant edition, which were part of the split fountain in the main edition. Next was the brown in the owls body, a different shade for each edition. Brighter w/more orange in the main, and darker with more magenta in the variant. Following the brown was a 90% transparent warm grey. This layer adds all the shadows to each previous colors, ties the whole image together and adds a lot of depth to what was previously pretty flat and spread out. Some folks will lay a yellow, with a darker yellow, and then blue with a darker blue so on and so forth. Which gives you more control over your color. But I've always figured, if a shadow in real life is an overcasting of darkness why not just print a clear grey over all the layers at once? Seems more realistic to me...

Zoom on the stippling texture Anville added to the owls coat, this detail work really takes the coloring in the owl to the next level.
