How To Fail at Screenprinting.

I have had so many bad experiences with the mechanics of printing. This video was to be my documentation of the "prepping a new screen" process to share here, just to be sure I was on the right track. Thank goodness I was taping, because I wound up capturing my usual bad luck.

So here begins my series of "How Not To" instructional videos.

I want to say keep em coming, but I hate to see things like that happen. I just ripped a pretty new screen myself.

I coated a new screen, exposed it, printed, cleaned and reclaimed and repeated this 4 times on the same mesh. I had no problems reclaiming the first 3 times but after the last print run I was unable to get the emulsion washed out. So now I have locked emulsion on a brand new screen. Gonna take it to the car wash and try to blow it out (my pressure washer at home is not as powerful) but it's been too damn cold. Afraid of the water freezing on the mesh.

Yeah Roach - abrade each side twice, and degrase once was my plan. Seems like more what with the editing & sink-snaking break and all.

I'm afraid to watch the vid. You're in DC ? Find a good art program and take a class. You'll get right through all this procedural stuff. Good luck man.

Right off , start by taping that screen up with solvent resistant tape... You'll never cut the edge again and your emulsion will stay on better.
I really dont know why your having troubles reclaiming. ?

dang, i defintely don't work that hard to clean and prep a new screen.

i just maybe go over it with commet once, rinse super well. if i don't have comet on hand, i just use laundry detergent and a pot scrubber for 30 seconds each side. rinse and coat. i dont' bother officially degreasing. so far so good 6 years later.

that was some powerful scrubbing ya screenripper!

Stay at it, I think just hitting once would have worked. I have had the same thing happen to me more than once. Goodtimes
