too much information?

i like when posters are simple.
the artist's name, a cool image, venue, city/state and show date...

my thought is - if the poster catches your eye or you recognize the artist... then you'll seek out more information!

besides, if you're looking for more details than the poster provides -
you have the artist's name and the venue name - check their websites...

i made up an awesome poster for this band and they keep giving me information to add to it (one chunk at a time)...

when is enough enough... and in general what info do most people include?

Your problem is that your assigning almost no hierarchy or importance to the text, other than the band name being big. Your WHEN, WHERE, and HOW MUCH are buried in a bunch of bullshit about pizza. Don't solely blame the band for piling on the info... You're also not managing it that well. I would rate a lot of that info as footnote-worthy, at best.

Also, if it feels like too much, recommend they move to 11x17. If they don't want to do that, recommend less text. If they aren't interested in your recommendations, then why are you working together?

Disagree that any of that is your real problem.
Your problem is that you needn't expend even a moment's more thought or effort on this.
There is no point having any further back and forth, and no need for Tom's angst about whether or not they want your recommendations and what that says about your compatibility as vendor and client.
Whatever is the quickest, easiest way to put this behind you and collect your $$, do that. And never think about it again.
