Lotus Gigposter Screen Printing Process Photos

Here is the screen printing process for the latest Lotus show poster. All printing is done at Under Pressure in Austin, TX. Artwork is by Johnny Dimas.

We begin with a yellow fill.



Here is a shot of the yellow layer fill.



For the next layer we print a purple fill.



We add transparency to our purple paint mix so we can produce a darker color purple everywhere the yellow (layer 1) and purple (layer 2) overlap. This helps to add some depth to my image and to gain a new color without having to print an additional layer.





Tomorrow we print the keyline layer. Here is a peak of our exposed screen.

Hah, nice observations. The print space also serves as a store front for customers currently, so they do well to keep things neat. I will post pictures of the final layers next.

Here are some pictures documenting the screen printing process for the last layers of the Lotus Gigposter.

The keyline layer was printed with black ink from TW Graphics.



Here are some shots of the final print. The windows and stars also have a glow-in-the-dark pigment mixed in that looks pretty sweet in the dark. I wish my camera could get a decent shot of it glowing.





Here is one shot of the keyline layer printed alone on cardstock.



On this one we printed the keyline layer on top of the color fills from The Vaselines and Jeffrey Lewis poster.

Additionally, 25 of these prints have been hand deckled and splattered with hot magenta paint.
