so... I have a charity skateboard art show coming up... and I have this idea kicking around in my head. I am going to try... I repeat try... to print a 3-D anaglyph (red/cyan) print using skateboards like a woodblock print. I figure the truck holes are a good registration system and a piece of dense foam on top of a third deck will act as the print bed. There are a ton of things that can wrong and some have but we'll see.
Here is the anaglyph that I am going to try to reproduce:
now first I figured if I laser cut the deck deep enough that would be simple and good to go... the problem is I can't find anyone locally who can handle the size of the deck in their laser engraver... so time and $ constraints factor in and I am going to try to sandblast the deck material away...
I have made a triple layer of masking tape as a resist on each deck for each colour... hopefully the sand blaster does not destroy it immediately (he has different media aside from sand as well so some testing needs to be done) as long as I can get through a ply that will give me leeway to go in and dremmel out more material to make the relief deep enough.
stay tuned or don't to see how that goes...
