I just thought I would start a discussion on here regarding "what is a valid gig poster?".

I know its a tough job to determine sometimes (because it IS my job) .. and sometimes I screw up..

I have now removed Dave Leamons controversial poster due to the fact that it looks more like a 'promotional poster' than a gig poster. (please don't take personal offence Dave!)

I have rejected many posters in the past for this reason. (it was much easier when I was the one adding all the posters via email).

With the new submission system .. it is easy for me to screw up and let non-gig posters trickle through and onto the site.

So .. my point is.. I still will be trying to enforce this.. but if you notice a poster on the site that really isn't a gig poster, just let me know and I will remove it.

All posters are beautiful pieces of art, and I'm sorry .. but this is GIGPOSTER.COM .. and we must live up to the name!

Who knows .. perhaps my next site will be promoposters.com, or rockposters.com, or albumcoverart.com .. or whatever.

I hope this makes sense to all. Your comments are welcome.

I think that was a good call. And a fair one!

My personal opinion has been echoed by a bunch of people in the comment areas. I think that as long as the poster promotes a specific show or tour it counts as a gig poster! Meaning it has either a specific show date, or at least says something like "2002 domination Tour".

I personally don't care if it was created prior to a show to promote it or after as a souvenir (which still promotes the show in my opinion)

I did a poster for a band that was a generic club poster with a white box for info being written in, that I didn't submit because I didn'nt think it qualified as a gig poster. But this one is a grey area for me.
