Default Moderators

After todays issues, I begin to question if we need moderators. What is a moderator you ask? Other people than me that have the authority to ban people, lock topics, and generally help control the forums when I'm not around.

I would have to choose people I trust, that are willing to help keep this place dedicated to gig posters, and an overall positive attitude. It would be people who are regulars... that re-visit the site on a daily-ish basis.

I do not have to the time to sit around and police these forums 24-7.

What do you think? Any volunteers?

It might be a good idea unless the moderator goes mad with power....

i've seen a few forums where several moderators are chosen for each section (2-3 peeps for "anything goes", 2-3 peoples for "poster class" etc etc) that takes a bit of the pressure off the volunteers and also keeps one person from being too control-y.

of course, they'd have to either agree on stuff or agree to disagree.

I don't think I'd be a good cop either but I do agree that if a clown just wants to stir the poop and get people all mad and take it to physical

perhaps Clay needs to sort of 'clearly define' limits and the moderator can only act within that range.

I mean what if someone hates the word 'boner'? I'm screwed...out like 25% of
my topical material.

Maybe anything goes should be changed to Extremely Useless Chit Chat.

i see what u mean clay but i'm thinking, ur the main guy who runs the site, so maybe somebody else acting as moderator won't be taken as seriously as you are if they're causin probs. would the moderators have a special ban switch that they could press to get rid of undesirables or?? i'm all for freedom of speech and i think most of us can handle things pretty well on the boards, so i don't know if someone moderating whats going on is gonna make a lot of difference. also what if one person finds something offensive or unacceptable and other people don't? what happens? okay threats are a bit extreme, i personally don't think speed was gonna carry any of em out but thats by the by. i think we've been doing pretty well up until now, i don't think we need em.
