Holy sh*t, I did it!
This afternoon I felt like a goddamn magician!
My wife and I pulled 25 pristine prints in just under 15 min. Why did we stop there? Well, that is all I had room to hang. Will crank out some more tomorrow. Wanted to give a HUGE mahalo (thank you) to AndyMac and the kind folks on this forum for your amazing info and support. The new vaccum table worked great, the paper was great, and the ink worked great. Main things noted today:
1 - while printing took 15 min, it took all day yesterday to set up (will go faster in future now that I've got things organized)
2 - I didn't order anywhere near enough ink. poop.
3 - I really, really, really gotta look into building/buying a proper drying rack. The clips worked fine, but it takes too long to hang prints in them, and I need more capacity.
Once again, Mahalo to you fine pushers of ink

That's one of the untold secrets of screenprinting.....the 'printing' takes the least time.
I thought in Hawaii you just throw the shit on the sand and it's dry.
Nice! I'd think it would take longer to clip those things than it would to pull a print.
Mahalo everyone! Yep - the clips are a pain. Drying racks are scarce beyond belief on this island. I'm pricing out shipping one unassembled from Gran Adell, or building one myself (wood is $$ out here - so I'm not sure what option will turn out to be cheaper). Also been researching shipping options for the prints. They are 11x17" - and I'm leaning towards tubes over flat packing (as flat packing seems to be time intensive with cardboard cutting and the like). I've been combing old threads here, and have been eyeballing the recommended Yazoo tubes. These Tri-Hex "tubes" Tri-Hex Triangular Mailing Tubes | Erdie Industries look quite nice - and nicest of all they ship and store flat. Anyone use them?
And if I can ask one more question - is 2.5" diameter wide enough for an 11x17" print of 120# card stock? seems tight. Unfortunately the 3" diameter Tri-Hex tube is 36" long. Ug. Head is spinning.
Once again - mahalo!
You need 3" at least...2.5" is pushing it.
Surely there is a cardboard/packaging factory or distributor somewhere in HI?
Getting cardboard tubes shipped to you from the mainland will be expensive.
The Yazoo name has cachet on GP but really you can source tubes of that quality from tons if places, if you're willing to look beyond vendors with direct to consumer web sales.
get tube cores a t a carpet place if you have them there.
11x17...if you are printing small the cheapassed AWT rack is a good deal and takes up no space. DR18-100
Great job, the prints look nice.
I made a drying rack out of dowels and string on a wooden frame, which might be an option for you. Dowels aren't cheap either, but depending on how many prints you pull at a time, it might be an option worth exploring.
I'm away from the studio right now, but I found a few pictures in my Dropbox that might help illustrate:
