Hey,

Hey I just started my own clothing company and am looking to do some cool band like posters, I can't pay very much but offer free shirts (cool ones at that). The name of the company is called "Spiked Punch" (www.spikedp.com) Clothing... and the clothing part doesn't have to be really the focus of it at all! I want really cool mind blow stuff, not cheese crap… you know what I’m talking about! The posters can be silk-screened, off-set or just “generic” printed, I want to post them around a few metro areas (LA, NYC, Tampa)… the artist (you) would have full rights to the art work and sell it or do whatever you like with the prints. Please email me at dsg2@usunion.net

Also I’m opening my own gallery in LA (this fall) called US Union Gallery (www.usunion.net) showcases young, emerging and unknown artists from across the Globe. Focusing on Urban, Low-Brow, Folk, Graffito/Graffiti and Modern Pop art. We'll be opening the store front location in S. California 2001/2002, until then please look at our pre-shows and other content for all your art needs. Our Current Showing Artist: Brian Ewing, Jermaine Rogers, Steven Charles Schmidt, Sebastian O. Thibadeau, Jason, Daniel A. St. George 2nd, Steph Gueldner, Christopher Musto, Billy Blob, Tofer, Todd Marrone, Jena Cardwell, Christopher Blair, Richard Cronborg and Ralph Berko.

P.S. Arg! I need Sleep!

"Focusing on Urban, Low-Brow, Folk, Graffito/Graffiti and Modern Pop art."

Urban is not it's a self-made grouping of what I'd like to think of work done by people effected by the "city" or "suburban" world (mostly the US)

Low-Brow is another generic term referring to art that then to be scuffed at by the art world: Comics, Posters, Toys, Hot Rod art, Tattoos (Flash)… These things a considered low, or not worthy of being art (in some circles). A lot of poster artist would fall in this area. An example of low-brow would be Crumb.

Folk art is art done primarily in “backward” areas of the world; it can range from doll making, carpentry, painting, and metal work… a lot of the artists are self taught, it belong to a large categories called Outsider Art, which was popular in the late 80’s. The subject matter may or may not be folk related.

Graffito/Graffiti: Graffito is the single world of Graffiti… Graffiti is the art of writing/drawing on walls. I’m looking for artists that just don’t tag/write but do imagery and try to take it the extra mile! An two example of Graffiti artist are the legendary Wildstyle (wildstyle writing was named after him, in the 60’s/70’s I think) and Jean-Paul Basquiat.

Modern Pop; Is pop art being done right in the here and know, pop art is where you take images, symbols, and icon that are in the public eye/mind and use them. A lot of poster artist are influenced by the pop movement, because it gives the view familiar context. The most famous pop artist is Andy Warhol.
