    arthur,

    who's computer are you using?

    aren't computers 'evil'?

are you now a slave to your computer too?

it seems to me that you hate the computer and anyone who uses it. and think of the computer as a 'crutch'.

much like the 'style' you work in is a crutch that you are burdened by every day. so much so that you continuously rant about how it's 'YOUR STYLE' people are ripping YOU off. when in fact YOUR style is just an appropriation of old popular mechanics ads.

    fucking whhaaa. boo hoo.

why not admit that the reason you hate the computer is, YOU CAN'T utilize the tool.

just because I (and most designers who like evolution) use the computer to their advantage doesn't make it un-cool.

but I guess its okay for you to say "painting on canvas is un-cool. I'd much rather pain in this cave".

I mean really, I feel sorry for you.

if people ARE truly ripping you off...why are you not flattered? haven't you ever heard the saying 'imitation is the highest form of flattery'? why not take advantage of the position you are in to use your powers for good? people love your work. people are inspired by it. why not be positive and embrace it? why cry about it?

booohooo! people know who I am! they like my work....whaaa....they respect it even...well, of course, until they spend five minutes with me.

instead of playing Moses and climbing on the rock to preach about what's cool and not cool, why not try to help people?

why not be happy? or is it 'grunge' to be sad?

here's my challenge to you Mr. Art Chantry, seattle-grunge-rock-poster-god-who-moved-to-st.louis-to-follow-his-partner-who-is-a-patsy-to-the-man:

    reinvent yourself.

Instead of bitching about how everyone sucks and everyone is ripping you off, why not move on? 'invent' a new style.

if you are so anti-computer, why the hell are you on this site anyway? or on that computer for that matter?

    whiner.

This is getting really old. It's frustrating me to no end to see friends of mine fighting over feelings when they should all be more interested in promoting the continued movement of poster art being a valid form of ART. Art Chantry has done more for the legitimization of what we do than everyone else on this site combined. He's also flared up more people than the whole site combined. That's not what I'm discussing though and I'm not defending Art or others in any way shape or form.

Posting threads like this isn't doing anyone any good. There's not a statement here that hasn't already been beat to death on other forums.
I've had meaningful conversations with all the main artists affected by these Chantry rants and they are all been extremely gracious to me including Art. None of them are bad people just have bad days. Stay away from the forums if your looking to go off about something.

I don't agree with many people's approach to posting here. Reyes point about one liners is right. They're too ambiguous in context and any individual will read into it exactly what they want. If they are looking for a laugh it will be funny if they are looking for a fight it will piss them off. Art, Jermaine, Kraftie, et al are guilty at one time or another of a post that can be construed as biting regardless if it was meant to be. I'm sure I have been too. Few are squeaky clean here.

Point is we should all be more considerate when posting, more conscious of how the post could be interpreted. Art saying look outside and see how others perceive is dead on. Jermaine's points about consideration and respect are dead on. I don't care if you are the top of the pile in whatever you do you should always have enough humility and graciousness to share your expertise and wealth of knowledge to those who have yet to gain it on their own. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge here so check your egos and start pushing this forward or we will forever be viewed as a bunch of petty hacks who can't get along.

Picking this scab will never let it heal and a lot of great potential conversations will never happen because people with important things to say will never come back or will be afraid to post. Anyone who's feeling the need to go after Art or anyone please keep it to yourself or private emails and let this get back to a productive forum.

    Bruce,
Please post your work here so I can compare what you do and have done to Mr. Chantry's work and what he's done.

For someone a day into being on this site (if that's true) you've really kicked off your participation by supporting the schoolyard name calling that's making want to quit coming here altogether.

    Way to go.

5 rock, did you read that part. you keep insisting that we look at Art's body of work and disregard his often bitter, insulting and unforgiving personality.

Ive made my apologies here, but where's Art's? See what I mean?

Back to work ... that's what is more important anyway, right.

Kevin... are you also "b.banner" and formerly another user as well? I know it's off the subject, but I'm unsure who I'm talking to.

Also, I saw no part of your highlighted message in the "b.banner" post, which is what I'm responding to.

And yes... it makes a huge difference what his work is like. Art owes us nothing, not even civility... he contributes and has contributed to the essence of this site THROUGH HIS WORK.

If you don't like what he says in these threads, perhaps you should listen to his work... which as you said is "more important".

    Ehhhhhhhhh.

    Hey. How about this...

    Let's stop talking about it.

I think about 50% of the people in this discussion have only read a fraction of what caused this whole uproar in the first place. A lot of people (me included) are working just fragments of information. Nobody seems to have a clear view of what this is all about.

Forget about it. Some people were shitty to other people and vice versa. It's over and no one is going to benefit from dragging all this on forever.

    Alright.
