I would like to mount a 24x36 poster to wood and then put a clear finish on it. I am not good at this stuff. Anybody have ideas on 1)what I use to mount to wood and 2)what type of finish/brand I am to use?
Thanks for your input.

I did this with a couple of my posters to make them look like old signs and just cuz I like the effect.
I spray mounted onto masonite, make sure its the thick one because they can warp. Then I applied about 3 thin coats of varnish to build a thin, even coating. When that was dry I raised the board on another paint can in my garage and began putting heavy coats on and smoothed them to all the edges and left them to dry for a day then repeated 2 or 3 more times until I had the desired thickness on the coat.
After each coat was dry I would cut the drips off the edges. Remember to coat the back during the first light coats, this will help keep the board from warping as the heavy coats dry.
I appreciate the info....

i recommend burning the edges of the poster before lacquering, for that "old pirate map" look
and line the front edges with brass tacks to accentuate the pirate feel.
