A band took the art from my poster and made shirts out of it without telling me or compensating me.

Also, someone took a piece of art that I did and made tshirts out of them and sold them as their own artwork.

Finally, someone stole an idea from a poster I had done and used it for a big budget movie teaser poster.

Seriously, what do you all do when shit like that happens?

Write an angry email? Send a stock cease and desist letter? Nothing?

I'm curious. It makes me sorta mad to see it happen so often.

I had a band use my poster art as a portion of their CD cover without asking. They then took another poster and made a shirt out of it without asking.

I was actually pretty stoked about it.

I'm with Andy mac on this one. Who cares what the store does with your posters? If people buy them and you make money whats the difference?

I can't draw/paint/sketch/Adobe Illustrate worth a cat's piss and I'm an average graphic designer at best, so y'all can make the damn things and I'll keep buying 'em...but these are my mistakes:

I passed on "Nesting" a dozen times when it was, you know, "only" $400.

I didn't rip a bunch of Obama stuff down in the Haight and put it on eBay.

I waited a few days to buy this painting last week, finally called to buy it, and was told it sold 3 hours before.

The first time I "framed" a poster, a '95 Hess print, I kept it centered in the frame with scotch tape.

Not a poster... but a girl bought one of my tshirts at the Manchester Poster Expo and then went about 20 yeards away while she cut the sleeves and neck off with scissors, put it on over her existing clothes and went on her merry way.

It's just stuff, as long as people enjoy it, it's all good.

One time I was sun bathing nude in my backyard and a neighbors dog snuck over and dry mounted me. I would have much rather him dry mounted my posters.
