Default 'Deathbolt From Above' artprint by DWITT

'Deathbolt From Above'
13 colors
110 lb. Mr French Smart White paper
signed and numbered edition of 45

This print was born out of my fondness for test prints/monoprints.

I love the richness that develops from all those layers of ink. You can't fake it, you just have to print a lot of colors on top of each other to get all that texture and subtlety. It gives it weight. Literal, and visual.

I started with 4 layers of absolutely arbitrary colors and designs. The first layer I printed was from a torn paper stencil. Then I just kinda scribbled and threw things together for the other 3. I did my best to leave some part of every layer showing, too.

I didn't really plan this print out, I approached it like I do my paintings with only a vague idea of what i wanted in the end and stayed open to all the happy accidents that can happen along the way.

The experience of winging it on a print taught me a lot, and since there was no deadline, I took my time, starting this print back in December 2007. I'm definitely going to do a print like this again, plus the idea of doing a 20+ color print isn't that daunting anymore.

Enjoy!
Party on.
