alright....
Some of these Series are Artist Approved... Some are not. Some bands like to see what the Artists come up with.
Fisher is correct in saying that most Metal bands and audiences are limited in what they like for imagery. Good or bad, metalheads like skulls, vikings, blood, death and destruction.... High on Fire is a metal band, more Motorhead than Motorhead. They know metal and they do it very well. Will they like the poster in question? I doubt it, but I'll have to ask Des and Matt when I talk to them. Do HoF have a sense of humor... yes they do, but look at what they use for imagery on their albums, shirts, etc...
As far as what High on Fire likes???? I've said this before... Look at their Merch. For the most part Matt has used Arik Roper for all of his "art" needs over the years with his bands (HoF, Sleep). These Tour Series are a chance for new artists to show the band what they do. The band sees every poster. The T-Shirts for example... A few of the designs have come directly from these Tour Series.... LaChance, Connor, Fisher, and a few others are now doing designs for HoF merch as a direct result of one of these Tour Series.... and now the band is interested in Forbes... why? well you can figure that one out, look at his poster.
I agree NoDivisions poster would better suit a Melvins show, but if it something they wanted to present as a High on Fire poster than so be it. Not every show poster is going to be a hit with the fans or the band. The band left the Art designs up to the Artists, and that is how you get diversity.
Should they have put the comment in the lower right hand corner? Well.... I wouldn't have, but again, the designs were up to the Artists. Some bands and their audiences are "In" on the jokes, ie; Melvins... but most are not.
I'm not knocking the poster.. but I'm pretty confidant that the band and audience won't like it.... maybe I'll be wrong, we'll find out in a couple of days.
actually, I'd have to say Frank is the gay one, what with his dolls (collectible toys..whatever) surrounding him at his Studio... All in protected glass cases like some little Barbi collecting bitch
Alright... I'm of the screw the pooch and walk the wife.......
moss's brainy response is a turn on.
