Sheesh. Have you guys ever seen a Rauschenberg up close? it's not 4 colour process. It's multi layered and beyond what a 4 colour process could ever be. The intent of this project is to push artists to challenge the medium. This print is way more complicated than anything either of our studios have done and it's awesome.

Also why is this print different than the 21 we did for horkey or the 18 we did for tara? Could have just as easily taken a photo of either of their original art and printed 4 colour process and called it a day. It wouldn't have looked nearly as nice.

How many 17 + colour prints have any of you guys ever done? Just curious...

an unlimited number of colors is one way to push the medium. another would be to give the artist a limited palette. sometimes having boundaries gives way to new ideas. the artist would be forced to think about how he/she deals with color, print production/separating, ink mixing, printing, etc. i appreciate the work that goes into getting the most out of the fewest number of screens unless the concept calls for something different. truly collaborating and developing a great relationship with a printer is always a good learning experience, for both.
