yes...i matte all mine b/c i think it looks better and it keeps it off the glass. it's important that you use archival materials (acid free) b/c over time, if not acid free, it will ruin your poster.

yeah, framing is a bitch and it took me over a year to frame all mine but i am caught up....definitely can be pricey, but i think worth it since i plan never to part with them.

matting is a bitch when you first do it, but if you have a cutter it's ultra easy after a couple of tries...if you can get a good Matte cutter fairly cheap then do it.

is acid free matting really that important...its not like its the original constitution of the united states or something like that...I will be dead and gone by the time any damage is noticable...

the place i always take mine always suggests to do it. they say it's hard to say how long before damage could happen, but i figure it's best to be safe than sorry. it did not make a huge difference in price, so i do it for all. not only the matte but the backing is acid free.

i draw the line with UV protection glass though (price could jump up as much as $40), so i just keep mine out of the sunlight.

never really worried about acid free matting, yeah, by the time they start to fall apart I'll be long dead. Whoever my kids end up selling them too will have to worry about that.

I think I've got a line on a Logan demo for about 80 or so? Is it tough to mount the prints to the back of the matte?

Should I just practice on some cheap board first or what?

yeah, get some crap mounting board and play around with that a bit. Mounting the print to the matte generally isn't much of a problem...I used to use tape, but as long as you have a good hand and a good seal when you put the cardboard on the back it shouldn't move.

if that's an issue, you can also can also cut a smaller piece of matte or mounting board slightly bigger than the print, Matte, then print, and then put the other board behind it and seal it with tape...that'll usually keep the print secure.

Geez, that's a great freaking idea! Thanks for your suggestions! I'm gonna go by the art store today and see if that cutter is still around.
