Well, finally some news from DH,
It's coming out in the spring.
The design of the book has been changed.
The main part of the book will have more full page posters,
and will be cut back to 400 pages or so featuring artists from 2000 to now.
I will be using a few less images per artist to just have the best of the best.
And might be able to add some new people that I missed.
The rest of the book chapters, such as the history chapter, and other stuff
will be on a free DVD or CD inside the book in PDF format, and will feature music from the Fistful of Rock compilation series as well.
The big chain book stores call the shots and they don't want another big books as they take up too much shelf space and don't sell as well as they want them to move out the door.
The EF book did well and they want it to be a tradepaperback like that one, but twice the pages, as it will sell a lot more.
So, really it doesn't effect any artists from here at all, other than I might have 2 images instead of 4 for some and others will have full size page image instead of a smaller size.
Jaime Hernadez recently did a cool Adolescents poster for their CBGB show, now I can add it to the book, which I am happy about.
Anyways, I will be re-doing the book this month, shouldn't take long, mostly moving things around.
The 1,200 page version was a first draft and I did it to see what I could get away with, to be serious. Their changes make sense to me and are for valid reasons: stores will buy more copies, like 5 copies instead of just one.
