Simple, yet stupid question....

How do these posters usually come about? I mean, I realize that the venue can hire the artist to make one... but do fans ever simply request that something be made for a particular show? And what's the going rate to have something created? (Obviously is going to vary from artist to artist)

no. "fans" do not get to request that an artist make a poster for a show, at least i've never heard of such a thing. typically, the band, the promoter, or the venue hires an artist or designer to create a poster. posters that are not created for such legitimate promotional purposes are what you would call "bootleg" merchandise. that's not cool.

there are some grey areas about what's cool even between bands, promoters, and venues. there's no sense muddying it even further by introducing "fans" into the mix.

also...richie has fans. masses of them. make a note of it.
