    Default Propaganda-ish Posters

Hello everyone! I'm LaptopMoose, and I'm new around these parts.

I don't know where would be a better start, my story or my question. I'll start with the story.

About two weeks ago, one of my friends declared that one day he would take over the world. Knowing him, I had no doubt that he was capable of doing so, so I asked to join his team for world domination. He told me that I was a "minion", and on correcting him that I was no minion he told me that he would kill me during his conquest for world domination. (NOT A DEATH THREAT FOR REAL... don't worry! This is all a bit ridiculous.)

So! Annoyed by my minion status, I decided that I would show him just how non-minion I am by making tons of posters to distribute around town spreading word of the resistance to his world conquest plot. The posters is where I call on you guys, who definitely have more knowledge in the realm of posters than I do.

I have already made some symbols for the "resistance" movement, and I am about to start work on the poster design. I was wondering if you pros could give me some tips on designing the posters? My original idea was some world war two-esque propaganda posters... but I am open to all ideas!

(Sorry if this is random... I tend to be a bit random. )

Edit: This post can be moved to the appropriate location if my n00bishness put it in the wrong spot!

the way other people have done it seems to be:

    1) google image search for either the rosie the riveter image, the "i need you" uncle sam image, or the image of the russian worker-woman shouting.
    2) completely ignore the historical significance of the image, and imagine that you are being creative and original.
    3) replace the text with your own text which doesn't seem to fit correctly at all.

not suggesting this course for you, specifically. it just appears so often, there must be some reason i don't 'get'.

I am a far more creative person than that, I have already designed logos, and my intention is to portray this person as other famous figures who have his same personality, such as the phantom of the opera or Dr. Mengele. Then have some text at the bottom which says something to the effect of, "Do you want this as your world leader? Say No!"

Well, I might pop back in later when I have some work done on the posters and just have you guys critique and give suggestions. I was looking for a starting point, but w/e.

What a cool idea. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

When you're done, be sure to PM everyone with a link to your work. Especially richiegoodtimes. He's always very honest with his critiques.

Also, ask Phila Arts + Lone Star Posters to sell them for you - but like Thornysarus said - PM them first.

Show's over. Johnny wins. Nobody is going to top that; no point trying. Move along. Nothing to see here.

I don't think anyone can sell these posters, it falls under the blatant stealing of images category. Mainly just because I'm too lazy to create them myself on Photoshop.

Thanks for your support! It is much appreciated.
