Maybe it's just me, but it seems like most of every new batch of submissions lately is pretty mediocre...at best. Like a lot of phoned-in shit with a photo & some shitty type thrown on it. Technically a gig poster, but completely void of artistic merit. Sigh.

No offense intended to any designers in particular, cuz it's a big variety of artists. Like I said, maybe it's just me...but I don't think so. I can't imagine some of this crap is inspiring anyone new to become a poster artist.

Maybe I shouldn't say this but I will. I did a poster show/art show and I submited 3 posters. All they asked that you where a local artist.
There where about 30 -40 posters submited. I was taken back because most of what I was seeing was streched type or photoshop tricks. There where some good ones but more bad than good. Most of the designs where from people that in my opinion should be doing alot better work. Alot of it was lacking good strong tight composition
