Default Whats the difference between Flyers and Posters?

Me and my friend are making these flyers and she keeps on calling them posters. And now we are arguing over whether they are flyers, posters, or both.

An illustrator creates posters and designers create flyers.

flyers are little and can be handed out or put in stacks, like at record stores, for people to take.

posters are bigger and get posted up -- or mailed to collectors.

Some posters are flyers, but no flyers are posters.

    I second Sash and Richie.

Some people, like me, don't get compensated for either.

I would say a Flyer is a mass-produced (usually photocopied) poster. They tend to be 1 color for use with the photocopier. Black on white paper, or black on other colored paper.

A handbill is a small version left in stacks in a record store, or handed out etc.

A Poster is larger, can come in many different formats, and is used to hang around town to advertise the event.

I disagree. Many flyers I have seen are cut and paste, non-illustrated - just a found image and some text with the band / show info. All flyers and posters have a designer. (they are all designed and laid out, whether illustrated or not.)
