I will be doing some giclee/screened combo prints with different backgrounds and same foreground and want to use the same paper that will make up the proofs, 290 cotton rag vellum finish (not an inkjet paper). tested some and not satisfied with quality or appearance. haven't tried a wide range of profiles yet. any suggestions or recommended profiles (canon 8300)? considering a hit of base to lay the ink-jet down on. Anybody tried this?

it's my understanding that gickle prints want a coated stock to work best on. Your profiles etc won't matter if it is not offishal 'gickle paper'

    Screenprinting don't give a shit.

Ink jet coatings are specifically designed to hold the droplets of ink without bleeding. Uncoated stock will vary with dot gain and color consistency. I would tweak color balance and density in you source files to get a desired look if you don't want to use specifically manufactured ink jet paper. You could also try a clear workable lacquer on your substrate to see if it will hold the ink jet dye better.

yeah, you pretty much have to use a coated stock for best results. You can screenprint your own coating if you are good. Try this stuff.
