Default How do you print your posters?

    Hi!

Im new to 'poster design' - I basically just started playing around with sketches for friends bands... then went from there to photoshop, I've never actually 'hand printed' anything and was wondering what is the process for most of you guys, screen printing ..lino printing or something else?

Im mainly curious because I was looking to do some form of print course (even if just to make it a hobby)

    Thanks,

    -Louise.

Most people here screenprint. I myself carve my designs in the backs of dead hookers and press them against the paper.

For the record, I also enjoy snack cakes and receiving fellatio. - ENM

you can make some really great looking stuff with a copy machine. i screen print because you can make giant, colorful posters for about the same price as a silly looking full color 11x17 from kinkos. chicks dig it. people throw away the kinkos shit & keep, buy, or steal the screen printed posters if they don't suck too hard.

Do you have any demos of that that dead hooker printing method on you tube ? Sounds like a great documentary in the making.

Most people here screenprint - but many of us have experience with wood-block or linocut prints, which can also be done in your house without the necessity of an expensive studio space and even more expensive supplies. Some people specialize in letterpress, too. There are many ways of doing color separations for silk-screen posters not involving photo shop at all. You should study up on the art of serigraphy and check out some of the rock poster art books. Find some artists you really like and talk to them about their processes - many of them will be open to talking to you with sincerity. Andy Mac is a good person to talk to as is Steve Walters. Just prowl around and see what interests you personally.
These forums are not always the best place to learn because, 99% of the time, people just want to dick around and give you smartass responses (I'm guilty of it, too). There are many process thread on here, though, which can show you how people are creating.
I would also suggest trying to find a co-op or another learning center where you can go in your city to learn some basics and get some inspiration from other artists.
