Since you took the crit well... which is cool, here is some possible things to think about aside from the other stuff I mentioned...

try not to make it look like a nice image that was then turned into a gigposter. Alot of the best posters use the actual type in the drawing or integrate it somehow. Hand draw it and let it conform to the shape of the moon and the wings... put it in the wings... knock it out of the drawing... overprint it across the entire drawing... something...

Let the drawing bleed off the page... give it some life... it does not have to be a pretty drawing, centered on a page with and even edge around it, ya know what I mean? rotate the banner... drop the banner over part of the image... blow it up the whole thing.... cut part of it off... rotate it... make it come up from the bottom right... play around with it...

Great drawing... hideous font choice. Like they said, try hand drawing it. It will make it look nicer in the end. Also, either change the red stroke of the bottom banner to a different color, or thin it out, or both. And the point of a gigposter is to promote the band, especially the headlining band, but the other acts stick out a lot more. Mess around with that too. Just keep messing around with things, this poster has a lot of potential!

i echo the type comment, its pretty bad. Also id attempt to draw the banner and wings in a similiar style to the center image. Im assuming its go media stock, which is fine, but the line weights are completely different from the other illy and pretty distracting. I think changing it would help make the piece feel more cohesive

I second this. Big time.
Same goes for the blood splatter thing, in my opinion.

As was mentioned, try hand lettering.
You might want to lose the border, the fence, or that vine looking stuff. They're all well done, but it's little too busy (again, just my opinion).

Excellent drawing skills! You seem to have a great attitude, as well. Welcome aboard.

I'd say ditto to most of what was mentioned and add that the type at the top is too close to the edge.

Thanks so much for all the comments once again.

I got carried away and did a second one but I will go back and revise the first one and I'll post it up hopefully soon.

In the meantime here's my new one.

And here's the link to my online Portfolio. It's not much right now.

Sweet owl. Are you planning on screenprinting these? If so, that's a shit ton of colors! The only thing that bothers me about this one is that white outer glow/gradient stroke you have around the band type. Keep it 2d to go with the look of the rest of the poster. Other than that, great success!

Well, no I'm not planning to screenprint them, but maybe just standard print to see what they look like in their proper sizes.

I wanted to make the band type stand out, that's why I made it a bit 3-d. I removed it and it became a bit too plain. Maybe I'll play around with it a few more. I also played around with different color combinations but I always came back to this one.
