    Yea, I think the aesthetic is also part of it.

    So Peter's version would produce square-looking, bitmap halftones. But wouldn't the emulsion burn round them out and it would look fairly photographic? That's just a guess, but seems right in theory.

    On the other hand, oversized halftones are used for effect all the time in posters in which case I'd probably want to go with the color halftone filter. I just don't want to go as large as the last time I tried it. I'll have to play around to find a happy medium.

    It's impossible to say. No one here has cracked the mystery of the halftone dot.

    I still draw a graduated halftone screen in pencil, shoot it as a continuous tone screen for a copy camera.

    I suspect not. You may have luck with the Neil Young technique though.
