Poster Critique

Hi. First post on here. Just wondering your thoughts on my first poster design. Hope to be making more of these in the future and it's great that there is such a large community of people out there supporting this type of thing. Here it is:

Not a fan of the text. Like the illo.

@Scratch - Thanks man! - I found the submit link this morning and it's already been added to the new posters section. This site's really cool - been picking up on a bunch of tricks in the forums.

@8Ball - Yeah, the text was a bit rushed (hence the use of barely modified Impact) - next time around I'm gonna draw and scan the text. Thanks for the input.

I like the picture but the stroke is too thick on the text.

@ Lonesome Cowboy Bill: - I agree, this is totally on my list of things not to do again, I think I just need to get used to being able to figure out the proportional difference between what I see on the screen and what will actually print. I some times get deceived when tweaking the zoom settings.

Brad: Yeah, that was a really hard call for me too. When all was said and done, the colors looked more balanced with the text over the wing. Originally, I was going to go with something like this, but somewhere along the road, I changed my mind.

Same thoughts - Love the illustration. Text is an outright bummer.

In posters as in other kinds of graphic design: ONE thing has to do the heavy lifting. In this case, let the illustration do the work. Make that type a second-tier element.

i would like to see the stroke/outlines of the illustration and text match up in weight. also, the text would look more integrated if you made the outline match the irregularities of the illustration. otherwise, i think it looks pretty dang good.
