I don't know if this is a good way to do it, but I fill in the space that the type is going to go into with black and then cut the type out of that, lining up flow lines that come off the piece that I'm putting type around. I cut away whatever is NOT the text.

I guess you could say I work in the negative, mazn.

I'm amazed at guys like Loco, Bobby Dixon and Mike Saputo who can just lay shit out like that.

I've hand-drawn the type on my last few posters and will probably do it on all the rest moving forward.
Fonts don't look real.

I like hand drawing and designing type. I've done a few posters/album covers and then eventually developed the type into a font. It's good fun!

Most of the time I prefer hand drawing everything. Although, it's really irritating when there are lots of copy changes. It all really depends on time (and how much effort you really want to invest in the project).
