When i saw that photo of frank's car i was thinking that would be a good poster assignment.
before we start things up again it might be a good idea to assign people to head up the assignments first. if we had a set schedule with different people heading every two weeks i think we'd have more interest, input and variety.
my thoughts:
-start a thread for people to sign up to head a poster class. have one person make the decision who and when head the class ( i'm happy to do it but will gladly turn over duties to clay, ravi or whomever ).
-have a new assignment every two weeks. most submissions come within the first few days but weekly is hard to maintain and monthly seems to lose the urgency required for interest.
-assignment is completely up to who ever heads. if we have repeats ( and we will), so be it.
edit: and it would be up to whoever is heading the assignment to give the "heads-up" to the next person to head the assignment.
-if you head the class make the effort to give at least one thoughtful comment to every submission.

It would be cool if there were constructive comments. Seems the comments posted to submitted gig posters are mainly compliments, which is cool. But looking back at older submissions I noticed there used to be actual critiques happening which is helpful to the designer and other people that read the comments...seems appropriate for a poster class.
I also miss poster class. Although I only ever did one, it was a good one and I need stuff like this to get my brainwheels a-turnin' sometimes!
