Poster Class Suggestions

Have a great idea for a future poster assignment? Post it in here, and we will consider it. :grin:

hey clay* i'm glad you're getting into the whole class idea. i think in time it will become a great feature to 'gigposters'.

ok, ideas:

a): working in bizzare dimentions* either something like 30"x6" or post a bizzare 'die-cut' shape.

b): working w/ limited color* give the pantone and/or cmyk breakdown for 3 colors.

c): re-do 'bad' cover* find an album cover that really sucked and see if we can 'improve'.

d):characture and or working w/ promo photo* kinda self explainitory ( since this 'class' is being done for educational purposes it's ok to use copyrighted imagery since 'educational' falls under the 'fair use' clause of copyright laws.)

...just an idea.

i'd like it would be free to us to do whatever we wnt to with the stuff assigned, using any method we want to use to end up with the final product we want. each one of us have a different style.
But i also think we should be limited with a max. number of colors. maybe once in a while working with only one color, its always interresting to see wath people can come up with only one color.
maybe we could post the sketches too, to see the process each one of us use.

Style Imitation...

Like, 'draw this in a Forbesian style...'
Or, 'illustrate this in a Kleinsmithian style.'

Might be fun. And would probably make you appreciate another persons 'style'...in its entirety.

what id would like to see is everyone do a poster say for a fake band

'Mr. Pickles and the Magic Banana'

but do it in a radical different style than the norm and then post them anonymously so we can see if we can tell who did what.

see if we can kill this whoile dumb designer/illustrator debate.

I love that idea, Frank. Back at the old Screwball HQ we filled an
entire wall with fake band names. It's kind of funny where one's
mind will take one after 48 hours of straight printing.

frank* i dig the idea of a poster outside my 'normal' style but......how are we going to post them without everyone knowing (the 'scrojo' at the left is a pretty big give-away that it's mine).

maybe they can all be emailed to a 'nuetral' party and they post them? I volunteer.
