Poster Critique

Hey everyone! Been on the site for a long time and have submitted a few of my posters but have never asked for feedback. I'm a total amatuer and just do posters for the bands I've been in but I think I'm getting to the point where I could use some professional input. This is the last poster I did (was going for a funny over the top Conan type thing). This was done in Photoshop and includes each band member and the merch girl. Getting ready to make a new one and was looking for things I could maybe work on. Again, I'm not trainied, just looking for some input from the pros...(moves out of the way now....) : )

needs more dynamic line width variation. feels a bit flat.

agreed... some heavier outlines would make it stronger... also I don't really like the variation in detail throughout the piece... I mean the guitars are super detailed, like they are posterized photos, then the people are less detailed except for their tattoos, then the can pile has no detail... with this type of artwork and layout, either completely fill it with detail or tone down the detail all around. Overlaid text box is a bit of a lazy afterthought... could be incorporated into the layout somehow. The text is meh... I would maybe lighten it up so it pops a bit...

The colors are too safe and completely analogous. It's always dangerous making images that you want people to notice out of earth tones.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the guitars were a little too detailed. i took a picture of the real ones and outlined them then filled in the color. I tend to lean on that alot.....using the blending under the layer options so i can see through and trace out the details......I think the next one I'll try the bolder lines and less on the details. Thanks!!!!
