Default Album name - can I use it on a shirt?

I dont know where I heard it (some rap song, not Nas) but I am aching to do an "illmatic" shirt, but after running a search, its the name of a NAS album.

Ill be doing it in 19th century type, kinda baroque, with a custom illo. Am I going to get sued?

Do a trademark search. I would bet it would cause "market place confusion" but really, unless you are putting it in malls I would be surprised it Nas hunted you down.

Beyond the legality issue which I doubt would be a problem, that's a pretty important/influential album, I think for alot of people Illmatic is synonymous with Nas. Might be an odd word to expand upon... Just sayin.

i'm pretty sure you can trademark names/words. i just heard of a developer that trademarked "[city] live" as in kansas city live, dallas live, etc.
