Default I designed free font, should I charge for commercial use?

I made this font last year and put it up on dafont. The main purpose in doing so was just to see what all was involved in doing so; just a learning experience basically, so I thought I'd give it away for free.

On the site I mentioned that it's free for personal use, and for the last year, I get about 1 or 2 emails a week from companies and designers asking if there's a fee for commercial use. Up until now I've been telling them just use it- there's no charge because I didn't expect anyone to be that interested. But I've been thinking, maybe I should tell them it costs $x. If they pay, then that's cool, if not, then I'm not out any more than I was before.

I was thinking about saying, "Hey, just drop 20 bucks in my paypal," or something like that.

i don't know the typeface, but you could add some stuff to it, like glyphs and accented letters, maybe some other little tidbits, and charge for that.

If companies ask you for it, totally charge them.

I don't know if you can take it down and edit it then resubmit, but I know sometimes fonts on there are missing letters and in order to get them you have to contact the creator and pay for the full character set...

What did you use to design the font... software-wise... I always wanted to just try it... for the sake of just trying it as well.

    cool.

I think my font sucks actually. Here's what I did- I printed out all the letters and numbers in Impact, then stuck the papers in my pocket for a couple of days. I didn't have a scanner at the time, so I took pictures of it and vectorized it in illustrator, then used some free font software to create the font.

I've seen it in all sorts of ads from the Cubs to Klondike Bars and scrapbooking and stuff. Really weird. Anyway, here it is:

I thought there might be some legal obligations with it being based on impact and all. I don't know.

I like the idea of keeping certain glyphs or letters out and charging for the 'full set'

Honestly, I don't remember. My box has crashed since then and never re-installed it. I'll look when I get home tonight see if I can remember.
