Default theives should have hands cut off

We got home from our vacation to find a theif or theives crowbarred the back sliding door and stole 5 native art prints worth around $4k, my grandpaws ring and my dads watch from a hidden bookbox, the clan claw from Scotland, about $500 in rolled coins, and a line of credit visa for my business from my drawer. didn't take CDs, booze, DVD, computer etc.
My daughter was by the house everyday picking up mail and didn't notice (they closed the door and drapes, and the prints were selected from a bunch of others hanging on the walls - there were a few worth way more but I think were too big)
We didn't actually notice for 15-20 minutes when we got home, then nancy saw a mask was missing, then we looked in the living room. As I was checking messages, the cops had called while we were gone, they had picked up some guy who had the credit card in his wallet he was in a stolen car.
they still have him in custody, but said they can't get a warrant to search his house. He didn't know how the card got in his wallet.

I figure if they cut off a hand each time they catch pricks like that, pretty soon all the scumbags won't be able to use crowbars or carry shit, and everyone will know who they are when they walk into your yard wondering if you need your evestroughs cleaned or your windows washed.

That's 3 times now. Crackmethjunkie assholes. They have the right idea in Mexico - high walls and broken glass embedded in the top.

One of these days I'm going to catch someone in the act of breaking into somebody's home or car, and they're going to take it on the chin for me & everyone else I know who's been burglarized.
