Out them on your website. I'm sure some of your fans know "people" who will "take care of it."

I feel the good old fashion baseball bat to the knees appoach works well if numerous nice guy tries fail.

Absolute BS, an artist I work with was in a similar position. He went to the gallery and demanded that they make him a partner in the gallery. They of course were confused and said they didn't understand. He explained that the sales from his show were funding the subsequent shows and that he wanted a percentage of those shows or to be paid in full. He was paid the next week. Another artist I work with sued her gallery along with other artists from the gallery that were in a similar position. United they were a strong force. They won but only got 50¢ on the dollar.
It could be you're too nice.

Take it to the People's Court. If you win the show pays and you get on TV, win win.

i've been considering that, but since i just got off the phone, it turns out that posting on GP appears to get things fixed real fast.

Very cool

Not getting paid is the worst. I am "loco" so I do get paid. A big part of it is I don't front shit to anybody I don't know. I draw the line real fast
When I first started out a had a hard time my first few times. After that I just always told myself. "If I go to a shoe store to buy shoes, I have to have money" I view people that want me to work or design stuff the same way. I see no difference. I have told a few big accounts in the past. That's fine if that how you do business (trying to make me wait 30 - 60 days to get paid)
but, this is how I do business, Half up front balance when job is done
